As a pediatric oncologist, my professional life is immersed daily in the world of childhood cancer, and Melinda does an impressive job of describing both the good and the bad that can be found in this land of sick children. I also had Hodgkin lymphoma as a teenager and could relate personally to what Melinda describes. Many times while reading Grace I would find myself nodding my head and saying aloud, “That’s it!  In 2009 Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation asked Melinda to return and speak again. Since our last luncheon she had experienced an entirely new level of what it means to have cancer and life after treatment. Again she brought the room to a complete silence and, with more passion then ever before, shared her latest journey. Melinda’s words allowed our guests to look into her heart and soul. She has a gift to reach people where most others can’t. She is an inspiration, role model and amazing young woman who is changing lives and touching everyone she has contact with.
