Melinda Dancing During Cancer Treatments: Dave Congalton KVEC 920 8-11-10: Melinda wishes to thank Dr. Joshua Schiffman for contributing the Foreword to Grace: A Child's Intimate Journey Through Cancer and Recovery. "Grace is a book that speaks to me personally on many levels. It is an absolute page-turner, bursting with genuine insights about the field of caring for children with cancer. As a pediatric oncologist, my professional life is immersed daily in the world of childhood cancer, and Melinda does an impressive job of describing both the good and the bad that can be found in this land of sick children. I also had Hodgkin lymphoma as a teenager and could relate personally to what Melinda describes. Many times while reading Grace I would find myself nodding my head and saying aloud, “That’s it! She hit the nail on the head.” Melinda’s approach is direct and forceful. She’s not afraid to tell it like it is. I believe Melinda’s book has the potential to shape the national discussion on the effects of cancer in children and young adults." -Dr. Joshua Schiffman “We are, each of us angels with only one wing; and we can only fly by embracing one another.”

Speaking Testimonials: In 2008 Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation asked Melinda Marchiano to be our main speaker at our Annual Luncheon. She moved the room to absolute silence, capturing the awe, respect and compassion of everyone in the room. Melinda’s words translated into strength, courage, optimism and so much more. Her story, told in her own words, not only brought a vision for our donors to understand what it means to be a child with cancer but how it affects everyone around them. I invited Melinda to address my class this summer . I was absolutely delighted and amazed at the maturity, composure and ease with which Melinda did her presentation! Keeping in mind that she is only sixteen years of age, her approach and delivery was expertly designed for a group of senior citizens. She communicated on their level, teaching them a great deal about her own writing process and her riveting personal story. The group left class that day with new perspectives about their own writing efforts and challenges, with much to apply and think about. How special that a sixteen year old could inspire and teach people in their 60's, 70's and 80's! She is a remarkable young lady with a glorious future. Her beauty, inside and out, comes through with every word yet she remains humble and grounded. I look forward to watching her stardom rise to great heights. Contact us to book Melinda for your next event.
